Students

The program aims to help absolute beginner students reach B1-B2 English proficiency over a period of 8 months. Students will receive both remote English lessons from volunteers and engage in self-study.

  • Total Learning Hours: 500-700 hours, including both volunteer-led classes and self-study.
  • End Goal: Passing the Duolingo English Test (with test fees waived for active students).
  • Phase 1 (Regular Semester – 4-5 months):
    • Self-Study Commitment: Students are expected to complete 10 hours of self-study per week using the Duolingo App.
  • Phase 2 (Summer – 3 months):
    • Self-study remains at 10 hours per week.

Students will have more intensive interaction with volunteers during this phase, with up to 10-15 hours of volunteer-led teaching per week.

This combination of structured teaching and self-study helps students progress efficiently toward achieving B1-B2 proficiency, equipping them with essential language skills.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

We also offer weekly therapy sessions for students, and for their families if they choose to participate. These sessions provide emotional support and guidance to help students navigate the challenges they face. While the therapy is available to families as well, it is completely optional, ensuring that everyone has access to mental health support if and when they need it.
